The gardens of Paris are truly beautiful and the perfect place for a Paris engagement photoshoot. I was so pleased to hear from this wonderful engaged couple, who were coming to Paris to capture their love story and magic with photos to cherish forever.
Paris Photoshoots
Paris has so much to offer for a photoshoot of any kind, and for any occasion. Whether it’s the Eiffel Tower you dream of, one of the Paris gardens, or the many monuments and museums, it’s a dream city and truly romantic.
Wow Clients
Wow! How am I so lucky as to get these “wow” clients? Mareike had contacted me a long time before she and her fiancé Michael were coming to Paris. Both being from Germany, they had been to Paris before, but this time would be extra special. This time they’d be celebrating their engagement with a Paris engagement photoshoot!
I met Marieke and Michael at the Trocadero area in Paris, with an incredible view of the Eiffel Tower. This spot is so iconic, there are swarms of people here, day and night. But who could blame them?
It is an incredible honor and privilege to photograph love stories in Paris. The first thing I noticed about Marieke is how pretty she is. But it wasn’t just her external beauty, she has tremendous internal beauty. She was kind and friendly, fun and up-for-anything. She works in advertising, so we talked about how I’d studied advertising in university, and was absolutely delighted to spend the morning with her. Her outfit was really pretty and wonderful colors, too. She also walked in her heels like a model, I was so jealous, I’ve never been able to walk in heels without falling over!
Are They Models?
Michael, well, Michael looks like a model. The total look of a model, and a beautiful suit too. I really enjoyed taking them around to some of my favorite places, and after Trocadero, we made our way to the Eiffel Tower riverside, my personal favorite, and then a walk over to the beautiful double decker bridge known as Bir Hakeim. This is a bridge on the west side of the Eiffel Tower and has an amazing viewpoint.
The next thing we did is head over to the Pullman Hotel, a hotel with great views of the Eiffel Tower and really nice service. There, you’ll find a taxi stand, which we needed for our trip across town. We chatted all the way to the Tuileries Gardens.
The Famous Tuileries Gardens
The Tuileries Gardens are the most central garden in Paris, right in the heart of the city, and, being Paris, they are of course, beautiful. Mareike had mentioned that she wanted to see the gardens, and we spent a bit of time photographing there. The beauty of the gardens is also that you can see the Louvre Museum (formerly the palace of the monarchs) in the background. The only thing that can be a bit disappointing about the Tuileries Gardens is that the soft gravel you walk on, can leave a bit of dust. It’s easy enough to brush off, but if you’re sensitive about it, bring a towel or a change of shoes.
After the Tuileries, it was time to head across the street to Café Kitsuné and grab a coffee. After a brief refreshment, we were off to the courtyard of the Louvre Museum. The grand architecture here is delightful, and feels, well, royal! It was just stunning, and I was feeling so joyful seeing the deep love Mareike and Michael have for each other. Love is inspiring!
A Walk Along the Seine River
The last stop was a beautiful walk along the Seine River, on Ile de la Cité, one of the two islands in central Paris. I absolutely love the cobblestone here, and the beautiful buildings. It’s always a good idea to take a pair of flat shoes with you, as we do a bit of walking, and the cobblestones can sometimes be challenging. I often wonder, how did they do it back in the day?
Place Dauphine, Like a Movie Set
One final stop, my favorite square in Paris, Place Dauphine. To me, someone who worked at a movie studio, it looks like a movie set. In fact, it was part of a movie set for the movie, “Midnight in Paris”, directed by Woody Allen, and used in a scene with Owen Wilson and French actor, Marion Cotilllard. Here, you’ll also find some cute cafés and restaurants. No morning in Paris would be complete without a croissant and a nice cup of café, would it?
I had so enjoyed this morning with Mareike and Michael that I really didn’t want it to end. Their infectious energy, love of Paris, and love of each other, made me feel so happy. I nearly floated home!
I wish this couple so much happiness in their lives together, and hope to see them again!
