France can really be one of the best destinations when it comes to family vacations. This is your chance to show your child a new side of culture while making some unforgettable memories! If you have been considering Provence for your family trip, I would love to help you out by giving you recommendations on all the best places. As an English-speaking American family photographer living in Provence, I adore working with clients to make their vacations extra memorable. Here are some of my favorite things to do in Provence with kids.
Don’t Skip These Fun And Exciting Things To Do In Provence With Kids
Lavender Fields of Provence, France
Sault, France
If you are planning a Provence visit during the summertime, the Lavender Fields are an absolute must with kids! This iconic spot offers row after row of gorgeous, fragrant lavender that you truly have to see to believe. The lavender has a five-week blooming period, starting in June and ending in July. Remember, this can always change based on the weather; there’s simply no way to guarantee you’ll see it during your scheduled trip. If you do get to check it out, be prepared to see lots and lots of bees! I promise, though, they’re probably going to be too focused on the pollen to bother you.

Van Gogh in Arles
Arles, France
Back in 1888, a frustrated painter packed up all his things and moved to Arles, France for a bit. The city proved to be an absolute inspiration for Vincent Van Gogh, and he painted numerous works while here. Today, you can go on a tour and see all the spots that inspired these paintings. Go and have a cafe au lait at the Cafe du Forum or visit Montmajour, a hill he particularly loved. You can download the route directly to your phone so you can hit all the existing stops!

Cours Mirabeau
Aix-en-Provence, France
Cours Mirabeau is a Provence avenue that is almost always alive and bustling and perfect for kids! As you walk down the tree-lined street, you will see gorgeous mansions and several cafes with outdoor seating. There are fountains and statues, plus you can duck in and out of shops. In 2002, it underwent a number of renovations to make it better for pedestrians. Today, it’s an easy spot to navigate with kids of all ages. Whether you are manning a stroller or guiding a toddler, you can explore with confidence while checking out some pretty lovely stops.

The Regional Park of the Camargue
Parc Naturel Regional de Camargue, Mas du pont de Rousty, 13200 Arles, France
If you are looking for a way to explore nature around France, you really can’t do any better than The Regional Park of the Camargue. This plane is located between the Rhone River and the Mediterranean Sea. Since the 1920s, this has been a preserved natural site full of jaw-dropping sites. From the vivid pink glasswort in the fall to the flamingos perched in the waters, you are going to have no shortage of memories made here!

Les Baux de Provence
Rue Porte Mage, 13520 Les Baux-de-Provence, France
There is always something amazing happening at Les Baux de Provence for kids! Located atop the Alpilles Mountains, you can shop from local vendors and producers for priceless mementos. They host tons of family-friendly events, such as children’s golf training and the Kids Paper Chase. There is a winery where you can spend a few hours unwinding over your glass of choice. They also have quite a few sites, including historic buildings and trails, that offer some of the best views on the mountain.

Carrières des Lumières
Maillane Road, 13520 Les Baux-de-Provence, France
If your kids loves the fine arts, I think the Carrières des Lumières is your perfect Provence destination! Founded in 2012, this museum offers a wealth of exhibits across a host of different mediums, including the digital arts. This area is completely immersive, giving you the chance to interact with countless masterpieces. They rotate through the different exhibitions, showing off painters like Monet and Rousseau. It is the perfect way to help your child fall deeply in love with some of the best artists across the centuries!

Arles Amphitheater
1 Rdpt des Arenes, 13200 Arles, France
If you are around Arles, the Arles Amphitheatre is a total must! This structure was first built in 90 AD by the ancient Romans. While the classic chariot races might have ended centuries ago, this arena still remains active. You can regularly check out concerts and plays, as well as bullfighting. As you might imagine, this is a pretty popular tourist spot with visitors from across the world coming here just to check it out. You can head inside, or you can just admire the exterior before finding out all the amazing things Arles has to offer!

ViaRhôna
If your kid has mastered the art of riding a bike, ViaRhôna gives you a way to take in as much of Provence as you can handle! This route passes along 815 km, covering everything from the Alpines to the Camargue beaches. Their website lets you customize the difficulty, the duration, and the sites you’ll see. From there, it will help you find the right path for your family. They will also work with you to find bike rentals, restaurants, and accommodations along the trail.

Intrigue Dans La Ville
13219 Saint-Remy-de-Provence, France
If you are looking for an interactive way to take in your city of choice, Intrigue Dans La Ville is a great option! This family game gives you a way to dive a little deeper into the history and the culture of your destination. Suitable for kids ages 6 and up, this game will take around 2 hours. You will be presented with a mystery that you’ll have to solve by visiting certain sites in the area. You can pick up the game kit at the tourism office of your city.
