Work These Romantic Things To Do In Nice During Your Honeymoon
Museums
While you are in Nice, you have to check out the museums for a romantic daytime date! Lucky for you, Nice has some of the best that cover pretty much every topic! For those who love art, The MAMAC is one of the best. Short for Musée d’Art Moderne et d’Art Contemporain, this museum explores some of the most influential avant-garde artists from the École de Nice. The Musée Matisse gives you one of the largest collections of Henry Matisse originals while The Musée de la Photographie Charles Négre offers a gallery of the photographer’s art. There is also The Musée des Beaux-arts Jules-Chéret, where you can view fine art.
If you love history, you are going to go wild for The Musée Masséna. In this space, you can dive into the history of the French Riviera. They discuss everything from the architecture to the city’s annual carnival.
For couples who like music, The Palais Lascaris lets you view musical instruments from different periods.
Promenade des Anglais
Nice, France
Promenade des Anglais is the largest street in Nice and takes you right alongside the wonderfully romantic Mediterranean Sea. It tends to be a favorite spot for walkers, bikers, and tourists taking in the breathtaking views. This is where all the best events are held, including the beloved Nice Carnival. There are also some of the nicest hotels in the region housed on the shore. As you stroll along, you can duck into a museum, stop at a park, or head over to the beach. If you do decide to walk near the waves, be sure to bring the right shoes. In Nice, the beaches have small stones instead of sand. While this makes the water much clearer, it can also be hard to navigate if you’re not prepared!
Castle Hill
06300 Nice, France
Castle Hill is a scenic space that is full of rich history. This hill takes you up 92 m, giving you some of the best views of the surrounding French Riviera. There are two ways you can reach the top. There is a lift for those who don’t want to face the demanding hike. If you are up for a bit of a challenge, however, it’s definitely worth it! Originally, this area served as the Greek settlement of Nikaia. The namesake castle was built in the 11th century but was torn down in 1706 at the demand of Louis XIV. Still, you can find the ruins at the center as well as a centuries-old French cemetery. There is also a romantic observation deck where you can get a panorama view of Nice.
Old Town of Nice
0600 Nice, France
Old Town of Nice is a charming part of town with narrow streets that take you past colorful buildings. This area is so picturesque that I typically include it as a set with my photo sessions for couples. As you wander through the town, you can grab a coffee to share at an outdoor cafe or try some chocolate from the candied fruit workshop that has been a staple since the 19th century. Once a week, there is a live market where you can buy local produce, flowers, and jewelry from Nice artisans.
Château de Bellet
482 Chemin de Saquier, 06200 – Nice, France
If you like romantic wine, Chateau de Bellet is a Nice spot you are going to remember for years! This winery is located inside a 19th-century deconsecrated chapel with breathtaking architecture everywhere you turn. While you are there, you can take a guided tour of the winery or take a walk through the vineyard. Inside the shop, you can taste their different offerings before enjoying a glass of wine on the terrace. Their employees are passionate about what they do and will pair you with the glass that’s perfect for your tastes!
Cours Saleya
Rue Saint-François de Paule, 06300 Nice, France
Even if you don’t stay for long, the views at Cours Saleya are worth the trip. This flower market is a favorite destination for people all across the globe. As you walk on the banks of the Mediterranean Sea, you will be awash in the different scents from local flower farmers. They also offer fruits and vegetables, crafts, and other gourmet specialties. If you stop by on Monday, you will get to check out the antiques market that takes over for a bit. There are also several bars and restaurants around the area.
Gairaut Waterfall
Rac de la Croix, Nice, France
The romantic Gairaut Waterfall was constructed in the 19th century in the midst of the Nice countryside. With an alpine chalet on top, this space will make you feel like you’ve been transported to Austria. I always suggest couples spend some time exploring this area. While some might find the artificial waterfall feels a little fake, atop the structure, you are going to get some of the most picturesque views of the city. With several bus and tram options, it’s an easy journey with a big payoff!
Private Sunset Tour on Solar-Powered Boat
81 Av. des Arenes de Cimiez, 06000 Nice, France
Lastly, taking a sunset tour through seaZen is an absolute must! These solar-powered boat trips will last around 80 minutes and will take you throughout the French Riviera. You will have your own private skipper who will guide your journey and find the best views. These tours are available in both English and French. Because the boat is virtually soundless, you won’t have to worry about the noise obscuring your trip.
