An engagement photoshoot in Paris is something really special, but it’s even more special when a couple is engaged during the holiday season. Paris comes to life around the holidays and into the winter the city is calmer and more fun for photo sessions. I love to photograph Paris engagements in the winter, and even after dark, as I specialize in black and white photography in the autumn and winter.
Meet the Engaged Couple
This gorgeous couple from New Jersey, had a tremendous love and sparkle in their eyes. They became engaged in Paris, the most romantic city in the world. Ryan got on one knee with an incredible view of the Eiffel Tower, Alexa was so surprised and so happy!
Naturally, the best way to celebrate an engagement session in Paris after the surprise proposal, is with an engagement session. Rather than give the Eiffel Tower more time, this engagement session took place in what’s considered the charming and romantic Paris, which is the area near the Louvre museum and Seine River. I have long loved this part of Paris. I mean, I love the Eiffel Tower too (who doesn’t?) but Paris is an utterly romantic city and there are so many parts to explore.
Timeless Black and White Photography
Timeless and classic, a bit mysterious, and oh-so-romantic, a Paris After Dark engagement photoshoot is something truly special. Photographed in black and white only, and with a candid approach (as if I was the photographer wasn’t even there), these are unique and precious memories created with your loved one.
I took Ryan and Alexa to some of my favorite spots in Paris at night. First, to the Pont des Arts, formerly known as the love lock bridge. This beautiful bridge has incredible views of the river, with the famous Pont Neuf on one side and a distant view of the Eiffel Tower on the other. At the end of the bridge, we make our way down onto the charming cobblestone next to the river and then over to the most photogenic square in Paris, Place Dauphine. I used to be a guide at Warner Bros Studios in Los Angeles, and Place Dauphine reminds me of a movie set. In fact, it was used as a movie set, for the movie Midnight in Paris, starring Owen Wilson, Rachel McAdams and Marion Cotillard, as well as a stellar cast.
A Full Moon
On this particular night, we were treated to a full moon. It was a bit tricky to capture, as the clouds kept playing hide-and-seek with the moon, but it was really something special. From here, we made our way back to the river cobblestones for a romantic walk, and finally, back up to street level for a beautiful visit to the Louvre courtyard and its pyramids.
It was truly such a memorable night, celebrating the beautiful love story of Ryan and Alexa, and it was my joy and honor to capture it for them to treasure forever!
