As an English-speaking American photographer living in France, I adore working with clients to make their trips unforgettable! Here are the best things to do in Nice with kids.

Explore Some Of My Favorite Things To Do In Nice With Kids
Take a Stroll Down the Promenade des Anglais
Nice, France
If you need the perfect way to spend an afternoon in Nice, I think your kids will adore Promenade des Anglais! This iconic strip of land takes you alongside the banks of the French Riviera. There are outdoor cafes and markets that give you the classic French experience. You can head down to the pebble beach if you’d like and take in the views of the crystal clear water. This is also a popular path for bikers and joggers looking for the perfect way to get out and enjoy the temperate Nice weather!

Catch Some Fresh Air at The Paillon Promenade
06000 Nice France
The Paillon Promenade is an urban park that stretches from the National Theatre of Nice to the sea and is tons of fun for kids. Because of the tropical weather, this park is green all year long, with hanging gardens and blooming trees. They have added attractions for visitors of all ages, with a play area made specifically for kids from birth through the age of 12. Your child can explore the life-sized whale, dolphins, octopuses, and a sea turtle. The bandstand hosts free concerts each Sunday where you can come and dance along to the sounds of the Municipal Orchestra.

Hike Up Castle Hill
06300 Nice France
Castle Hill gives you one of the best views of the French Riviera. This space has been a crucial part of Nice history for thousands of years. While the namesake castle was toppled in 1706 at the request of Louis XIV, you can still see the Nice ruins as your kids make their way across the landing. There’s also a historic graveyard, a man-made waterfall, and an observation deck where you can get a panoramic view of the area. Just know that Castle Hill takes you 92m up into the air. While some older kids might be able to handle it, it can be pretty tricky for toddlers. Luckily, there’s a lift that takes you straight to the top!

Explore the Old Town of Nice
Nice, France
One of my favorite ways to waste a day is by spending hours in Old Town Nice. It is absolutely picturesque, with brightly colored buildings lined up alongside narrow roads. Pretty much everywhere you turn, you are going to come across pieces of history, from the old churches to the town squares. There are frequently live markets where you can buy goods from local producers and artisans. The main marketplace, Cours Saleya, becomes a giant restaurant once evening arrives. Because it is right next to Castle Hill, you can easily roll both of these places together into one day!

See Some Art at MAMAC
Place Yves Klein, 06364 Nice Cedex 4, France
It’s no secret that France has a thriving art scene, and Nice is no exception! Over here, we offer the MAMAC, a museum that displays modern and contemporary art. You can check out the museum inside The Lascaris Palace right in the heart of Old Town. While the building itself is a masterpiece, the artworks inside the center are positively striking. With their rotating list of exhibitions, you can dive deep into the world of color or spend some time studying realism. While younger kids might get a little antsy in this Nice spot, older kids are going to love it!

Get Some Ice Cream at Fenocchio
1176, Route de Saint Laurent, 06610 La Gaude France
No trip into Old Town is complete without a stop at Fenocchio! This ice cream parlor first opened its doors in 1966 and has been serving decadent flavors ever since! The shop has 94 flavors, with 59 ice creams and 35 sorbets. You can always stick with the classics, or you can switch it up with innovative flavors like tomato and basil or thyme. The shop remains family-owned to this day with a crew who will make sure your visit is full of smiles!

Spoil Yourselves with Treats at The Confiserie Florian du Vieux Nice
14, Quai Papacino, 06300 Nice France
The Confiserie Florian du Vieux Nice has been around since 1974, though it got a bit of a makeover in 1994. This chocolate shop is dedicated to making sweets in the old-fashioned way! Not only can you sample the products while you’re here, but you can also watch as they’re made. They have a little bit of everything, including chocolate-coated pralines, glazed candied clementines, sour sweets, citrus jams, and crystallized flowers. Everyone in the family is guaranteed to find something they adore!

Soak Up the Sun at Plage Beau Rivage
107 Quai des Etats-Unis, 06300 Nice France
If you want the very best way to take in the French Riviera in Nice with kids, Plage Beau Rivage is the perfect spot. This beach is lovely with employees who will make sure you have everything you need. You can spend the day reading and basking in the sun or playing in the crystal blue waters. If you need to go grab some food, you can order at their restaurant, where you can try gourmet Mediterranean food made with fresh ingredients. It’s the best way to unwind after a long week of exploring!
