There is nothing more special than celebrating a honeymoon on the French Riviera. It’s such a special time in the lives of a couple, the transition from dating to married is a huge step and one for huge celebration. That’s why I was so delighted to be contacted for this honeymoon photoshoot in beautiful Nice, France. It’s the perfect place to capture newlywed bliss and to spend a honeymoon, too!
How to Get to Nice, France and Where to Stay
Nice, France is super easy to get to from the USA and Canada. Many airlines fly direct from Atlanta, for example, to Nice, or through Paris. Trains from Paris are also an easy and convenient (as well as comfortable) to get to Nice, trains take just under six hours. Once you’re in Nice, getting around is a snap. As Nice is a small city, it’s highly walkable, but there’s also, of course, taxis, trams and buses.
Most visitors to Nice prefer to stay in central Nice, either near the old town (Vieux Nice) or near the water. There are many excellent hotels near the water, and if you’re on your honeymoon, why not splurge? You’ll find the Anantara, Meridien, and world famous Le Negresco directly across from the beach. These hotels are also within walking distance of great places to eat and shop.
Immortalizing Your Honeymoon in Nice with a Photoshoot
With the stress of your wedding day behind you, it’s now time to relax and unwind. A honeymoon photoshoot in Nice, France is an excellent way to see the city and capture those precious honeymoon moments. As a professional English speaking couples and engagement photographer in Nice, France, I adore capturing the fun of couples on their honeymoon.
On this day, I was delighted to meet Anastasia and Jack, two newlyweds from Atlanta, Georgia, who happen to be engineers, too. They met at university, fell in love, and were now spending their honeymoon visiting the French Riviera.
From the outset, I knew this honeymoon photo session would be so fun. They are so in love, married now just two weeks, and so kind and fun.
First Stop, the Beach!
In high season, we normally start our photo sessions at the beach, before it gets too busy or too hot. On this day we had warm weather and lots of clouds, but clouds can be a good thing. They can be really dramatic and beautiful to photograph and are nothing to be concerned with, and in fact, can be beneficial as there are no shadows on the face from the bright sun. We didn’t even need sunglasses on this morning, and enjoyed the morning calm of the beach.
A lot of people are surprised there’s no sand on the beach in Nice. Most of the French Riviera beaches are stone or pebble. The sand is brought in to places like Cannes, so if sand is a must, visiting Cannes is a must-do. I like the large stones in Nice because it keeps your feet a lot cleaner than sand. They’re not easy to walk on and maybe not the most comfortable to lay on, but I like them.
I loved having Anastasia and Jack walk on the beach to highlight their beautiful love story set against the beauty of the beach.
A Walk into the Old Town of Nice, France
After I photographed the lovebirds at the beach, with some sweeping views from above, on the boardwalk called the Promenade des Anglais, we took a walk into the colorful and magnificent old town. It’s such a special place with it’s tiny, narrow streets and beautiful old buildings. This is a place where you feel like you’ve stepped back in time.
I had so much fun photographing Anastasia and Jack in the old town, and took them around to some of my favorite romantic spots. They were so lovely, and are so beautiful together. Their beautiful outfits, in neutral off-white was perfect against the pastel buildings.
In my photography, I like to highlight architectural details, and that includes the occasional fun shot through a rear view mirror of a Vespa. We spotted a Vespa in one of the most beautiful squares in Nice, with a gorgeous, flowing fountain and it’s reminiscent of Italy, actually.
We wrapped up our morning here, it was an absolutely wonderful morning and I was so honored to meet and photograph Anastasia and Jack on their honeymoon. I wish them so much joy in their married life together and thank them for choosing me as their photographer in Nice, France!
I love to capture the love, energy and excitement of couples in love in Nice, France. If you’re coming to Nice for any special occasion, or none at all, if you’re simply on vacation, I’d love to photograph you! Don’t hesitate to reach out!
