Planning a Surprise Proposal in Nice, France
Planning a surprise proposal back home can be a daunting task, but planning a proposal in a foreign country, where you don’t even speak the language? That’s even a scarier proposition! But no worries, I’m an English speaking Nice, France surprise proposal photographer, originally from the United States, and I love helping people plan their surprise proposals in Nice. There are so many beautiful choices for a surprise proposal in Nice, and the beauty of proposing in Nice is that it’s so convenient. You don’t need to take your loved one far, if you’re staying in Nice, no getting in a taxi, getting on a train, to go to a distant location, Nice has everything you need. Beautiful views, and of course, wonderful restaurants to celebrate your engagement!
As a Nice, France surprise proposal photographer, I not only capture gorgeous images of the surprise proposal, when you’re on one knee, but I help calm your fears, answer your questions, advise you, and overall offer incredible support. You’re never alone!
Proposal Time in Nice!
I was contacted by Ivan, who wanted to propose to the love of his life, Olivia, during their trip to France. First, they’d be visiting Paris, but then spending some time on the French Riviera. Ivan was a bit nervous, he didn’t know where to propose, and had looked online to get some information, but still wasn’t sure. I understand there’s a lot of pressure and stress to “get it right”, so I’m really happy to help. Not everything you read online is right for every person. Ivan knew he wanted to propose somewhere with a nice view. The best place in Nice to do that is at the Colline du Chateau (Castle Hill), a huge park overlooking all of Nice, with breathtaking views.
Ivan liked the sound of that, but he wasn’t sure which location in the park was best, and was just unsure of it all.
As part of my surprise proposal photography services in Nice, I do the following:
- Advise on the best locations not only in Nice, but specifically Castle Hill, which is a perfect spot in Nice due to the incredible viewpoints and being right in town, which makes it logistically very easy
- I have video and photos on my web site of the various viewpoints, and I advise on best times of day to avoid tourists
- Upon booking, each client is given a real time video, which shows how to find the meeting spot for the proposal, making it super simple
- I’m waiting at the spot for my client, and I’m discreet, just like any other tourist admiring the view
- I capture the moment of the proposal and then offer a short engagement session afterward, not too long, just enough time to capture your happy and joyful moments
Ivan was mostly concerned about tourists. As he and Olivia are private, he wanted a place without a lot of people. This can be a challenge in high season, but in October, it was much easier. Plus, he elected to propose in the morning, and that made it even calmer.
Ivan Arrives with Olivia
Ivan found the spot with ease, and he and Olivia made their way to the fence to take photos of the marina. In the distance there’s even a pretty lighthouse, as well as the “Beverly Hills” of Nice, Mont Boron, with beautiful homes built on the side of a mountain.
Olivia was impressed, too, because she took photos on her phone. To throw her off the track, Ivan set up his tripod with phone to take photos of the two of them, as he’d been doing on this entire trip. Just as Olivia thought they were posing, he got down on one knee, and asked her to marry him. She was caught off guard, surprised, but excited and said yes!
After a bit of time, I introduced myself, offered congratulations, and then the fun part, I got to chatting and learned a lot more about this dynamic couple.
A Mini Engagement Session After the Proposal
A mini engagement session in the immediate area just after the proposal is a sweet way to capture the feelings you have in this moment. For the proposer, it’s a feeling of relief. For the ‘proposee’, it’s a feeling of incredible joy, sometimes shock, and a moment they’ll want to remember. It’s not mandatory to do, of course, but it’s a great idea!
I found Ivan and Olivia to be a super fun couple, and we laughed a lot. I also captured gorgeous images of them with the sea in the background, and then we took a quick trip into the old town for some pastel magic. Old Town Nice is so pretty, and well worth a wander.
Before I knew it, it was time to say goodbye and wish this couple well. I’m so thrilled for them and so incredibly grateful that Ivan chose me to capture this very special moment in their lives. Congratulations!
