To become engaged in Paris is a dream come true for so many people. First, there’s the surprise proposal, and then after, to celebrate, there is the Paris engagement session. Capturing these once-in-a-lifetime moments for couples visiting Paris is a dream come true. I’m always so excited to plan and photograph these engagement photoshoots in Paris.
Paris is a Rainy Town
Paris is a very rainy town, especially in the autumn and winter. Sometimes in the winter, it rains daily. It makes you appreciate the gorgeous Parisian summers and this engagement session took place at the end of a glorious Paris summer.
I hate when summer ends, and I always have, ever since I was a kid. But, late summer and early autumn honestly is one of the most beautiful times to be in Paris. As summer wanes, so do the tourists, as they have to get back to work after summer holidays. That means, Paris is just a bit more manageable. WIth more than 30 million visitors a year, the city can get a bit crowded sometimes.
Popping the Question in Paris
This was a special engagement session, because the night before, Andrew popped the question to Meghan on the Pont Alexandre, which I also had the pleasure of photographing. You can read about it here. They were walking along one of the most beautiful bridges in Paris and Andrew stopped with Meghan to enjoy the view, and before you know it, he was on one knee and she said YES! Yay!
The next morning we met early to avoid the tourists and get a hold of some of that gorgeous Paris light for an engagement session. Andrew chose the Louvre museum courtyard and the next door Tuileries Gardens for their engagement session. Many couples use the images from their Paris engagement session on their wedding Save the Date cards. As a Paris engagement photographer, I can tell you this is a wonderful plan, as it’s one less thing you have to do when you get home, and who doesn’t love sharing their Paris engagement with friends and family?
A Magnificent Paris Engagement Session When the Leaves Turn Color
This day we were blessed with the most gorgeous light! We met at the venerable Louvre Museum, one the palace of the monarchy, and one of the world’s most visited places. The outside of the museum and the courtyard is simply stunning, and I so enjoy photographing couples here. There are all sorts of different spots for beautiful photos and the chance to interact and have some fun!
One of my favorite places in Paris is just next door. the Tuileries Gardens. These gardens used to be the site of a tile factory (“tuiles”), which is where the gardens got their name. This garden is so pretty and there are so many opportunities for wonderful photos in nature, which is so welcome in a big city like Paris.
As an added plus, some of the trees had started turning color too, so we had the early fall vibes to go along with it all. My goal with every couple is to gently guide and direct for natural poses, that don’t seem staged, as if you were in the gardens and just enjoying yourselves. Which, hopefully, you are, as I strive to create a really enjoyable and relaxed experience, hopefully that you’ll enjoy forever!
This was such a fun photoshoot, and made my heart sing with joy.
